Do You Know Your Enemy - Week 1
Do you know your Enemy?
Week 1
1) Jesus' message is a kingdom message.
Matthew 3:2,“Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”
Matthew 4:17, “From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”
2) We have been called to advance God’s Kingdom.
Luke 4:43, “But he replied, “I must preach the Good News of the Kingdom of God in other towns, too, because that is why I was sent.”
Matthew 28:18-19, “18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”
3) The Kingdom of God works counter to the kingdom of the world.
We have an adversary who seeks to delay, deny, and defeat the advancement of Gods kingdom.
Satan is fine with you professing Jesus, but he opposes those who follow Jesus.
Ephesians 6:10-12, “10 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”
V.10 “A final word: Be strong in the lord and in his mighty power”
Romans 5:12-15, “12 When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. 13 Yes, people sinned even before the law was given. But it was not counted as sin because there was not yet any law to break. 14 Still, everyone died—from the time of Adam to the time of Moses—even those who did not disobey an explicit commandment of God, as Adam did. Now Adam is a symbol, a representation of Christ, who was yet to come. 15 But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ.”
2 Corinthians 10:3-4, “3 We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. 4 We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. “
Ephesians 6:11, “Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.”
It’s not a time of peace, but of war.
2 Timothy 2:4, “Soldiers don’t get tied up in the affairs of civilian life, for then they cannot please the officer who enlisted them.”
