Small Group Discussion Questions

  1. Hebrews 11 says faith is trusting God even when we cannot see the outcome. What is one area of your life where it is hard for you to trust God right now?
  2. Noah obeyed God before there was any sign of rain. Have you ever felt God asking you to take a step of faith before everything made sense? What happened?
  3. Abraham followed God without knowing all the details. Why do you think we often want certainty before obedience?
  4. The sermon said faith is more than believing in God — it is pursuing Him. What does it look like to seek God in everyday life?
  5. Which point from the sermon challenged or encouraged you the most this week? How can you apply it in a practical way?

Day 1 — Trusting God Before You See the Outcome

Read: Hebrews 11:1

Devotional: Faith means trusting God even when we cannot see the full picture. Most of us want answers before we move forward. We want guarantees, certainty, and proof. But biblical faith works differently.

Faith says:

“God, I trust You even when I do not understand everything.”

That does not mean life is easy or that questions disappear. It means we believe God is faithful even when life feels uncertain.

God has always called His people to trust Him before they could see the outcome.

Application: What is one situation where you need to trust God instead of relying only on what you can see?

Prayer: God, help me trust You even when I do not understand what You are doing. Teach me to walk by faith and not by fear. Amen.

Day 2 — Faith Takes Action

Read: Hebrews 11:7–8

Devotional: Noah built an ark before there was rain.

Abraham left home without knowing where he was going.

Both men acted on what God said, even when it looked strange to everyone else.

Real faith is not passive.

Faith moves.

Faith obeys.

Faith takes steps before everything makes sense.

Sometimes we delay obedience because we want complete certainty first. But God often gives direction one step at a time.

Faith is trusting God enough to move forward.

Application: Is there a step of obedience you have been delaying? What would it look like to trust God and take that step this week?

Prayer: Lord, give me courage to obey You even when I feel uncertain. Help me trust Your direction more than my comfort. Amen.

Day 3 — Faith Depends on God’s Strength

Read: Hebrews 11:11–12

Devotional: Abraham and Sarah were far beyond the age where having children seemed possible. Humanly speaking, the promise looked impossible.

But God often works through weakness so His power can be clearly seen.

Faith is not confidence in ourselves.

Faith is confidence in God.

Many times we focus on what we lack:

  • strength
  • wisdom
  • ability
  • courage

But God is not limited by our weakness.

The Christian life is learning to say:

“I know I can’t, but God can.”

Application: Where do you feel weak or inadequate right now? How can that weakness become an opportunity to trust God more deeply?

Prayer: Father, thank You that Your power is greater than my weakness. Teach me to rely on You instead of myself. Amen.
