GO - Week 4

“Invest and Invite”

1. A Great Humility - John 1:19–28; John 3:30

2. A Great Testimony - John 1:29–34

3. A Great Stewardship - John 1:35–36

1. Hear

- John heard from God (v.33).
- The disciples heard John’s testimony (v.37).
- Andrew later told Peter what he heard: “We have found the Messiah” (v.41).

2. See

- John saw the Spirit descend and remain (v.34).
- The disciples asked Jesus, “Where are you staying?” He said, “Come and see” (vv.38–39).
- Peter came and saw—and received a new name, a new identity (v.42).

3. Tell

- John told his disciples.
- The disciples told others (Andrew → Peter).
- The rhythm repeats: Hear → See → Tell → Repeat.

  • Evangelism is not coercion—it is invitation.
  • Evangelism is not overwhelming—it is relational, experiential, discoverable.

1. Pray daily for them (because we’re seeking a miracle, not just influence).

2. Invest weekly in them—friendship, care, love. People, not projects.

3. Invite consistently—not just to church, but to Jesus.

Small Group Questions

1. Humility and Evangelism John the Baptist said, “He must increase, I must decrease” (John 3:30).
How does humility shape the way we share our faith, and what does it look like to “decrease” in our relationships today?

2. Testimony Over BiographyJohn pointed to Jesus, not himself (John 1:29).
When you share your story, how can you keep the focus on Jesus rather than just your personal experience?

3. Stewardship of InfluenceJohn encouraged his own disciples to follow Jesus (John 1:35–36).
What resources, influence, or relationships has God entrusted to you that could be redirected to point people to Christ?

4. Invitation Without PressureEvangelism here is described as invitation, not coercion.
Why do you think “Come and see” is more powerful than trying to win an argument? Can you share a time when a gentle invitation impacted you?

5. Invest and Invite ChallengeThe call is to pray, invest, and invite 3 people consistently.
Who might God be placing on your heart, and what’s one simple way you could invest in or invite them this week?

3-Day Devotional: Invest and Invite

Day 1 – The Power of Humility

Read: John 3:30; John 1:19–28

Reflection: John the Baptist had every reason to boast, but he chose humility—pointing to Jesus instead of himself. Evangelism starts here: it’s not about being persuasive or impressive but about being faithful to lift Christ higher.

Action Step: Write down one area where pride often creeps into your conversations. Pray and ask God to help you decrease so that Jesus may increase in how you share your faith.

Day 2 – The Power of Testimony

Read: John 1:29–34

Reflection: John’s testimony was centered on Jesus: “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” Our greatest witness is not how good we are, but how great He is. Your testimony matters most when it points others to Christ.

Action Step: Write out a short version of your testimony that majors on Jesus—what He has done for you and what He means to you. Practice sharing it with a trusted friend or in prayer.

Day 3 – The Power of Invitation

Read: John 1:35–42

Reflection: John’s disciples heard, saw, and told others. Evangelism is relational and invitational: “Come and see.” You don’t need to answer every question—just create space for people to encounter Jesus.

Action Step: Identify 3 people in your life to pray for daily. Ask God for one opportunity this week to either invest in them (through kindness, care, or friendship) or invite them closer to Jesus (through church, conversation, or prayer).
