15 Jun Daily Devotion – June 15
Day 166 – June 15
“Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.” Romans 12:9
Don’t just pretend to love people; actually love them, or as the Message version says, “Don’t fake it.” For those of us who grew up in church, Romans 12:9 goes directly against what many of us saw in church. You smile at the person who passes you in the lobby only to turn and gossip about them as soon as they walk off. That is the picture most people have about Christians, and the amazing part is that it has been happening since Paul was writing this letter the church of Rome nearly 2,000 years ago. Human nature tells us to look friendly and then be real, but real love isn’t being one thing to someone’s face and another behind their back. The world is desperate for people who will love no matter what they’ve done and show mercy like Christ shows us on a daily basis. The only way to love like Jesus loves is to walk in His love and let it shine through us. Honestly, it’s impossible to love like this on our own, but with God all things are possible. Take a moment and consider the people you struggle to love, those you’ve pretended to love, and those you don’t even pretend to love. Now together, let’s repent and ask the Lord to enable us to love like He loves and change this culture through the love of our Savior.
We’re more than conquerors in Christ.
