13 Jun Daily Devotion – June 13
Day 164 6/13
“For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.” Romans 12:3
Have you ever been on the “Pirate Ship ride” at the fair? It is a seated gondola that goes from side to side taking the rider left then right until it’s almost upside down. Romans 12:3 reminds me of the pirate ship ride because of the lack of awareness we tend to have when it comes to God’s assignment of grace. On one hand, we compare ourselves to others if we are doing well, and on the other hand we curse ourselves when we have fallen into sin, rarely relying on Jesus in those moments of the Christian pendulum, swinging side to side in our personal lives. The words “sober judgement” in verse 3 mean to be clear headed and balanced in our minds, focusing on the task at hand and pointing people to Jesus. If Satan can infect our minds with pride or pity, we will be inward focused and fail to be faithful with what God has called us to do. No matter what we accomplish, God is the source, God is the point, and lifting up the name of Jesus must be at the center of our lives at all times. Don’t believe the lies of the devil. You’re made to shine for the Lord, so in all you do, remember He decides how much grace to pour out with the exact measurement for your daily need. Trust Him and He will continue to pour down on you. Pray this with me today: “Jesus whatever it looks like, whatever it sounds like, I will do it for your Glory. Shine through me today!”
We’re more than conquerors in Christ!
