Day 218 – August 7
Haters Gonna Hate
“We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death. Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.”
1 John 3:14-15
There is a story of a man who visited a zoo, and while he was at the zoo he spent time at the lion exhibit. At the end of his time at the lion’s exhibit, he said, “That lion is just like my cat at home. He lays around, he plays, and he is full of life. It looks like I could go in and pet him just like my cat at home. It’s a shame you keep those animals caged up like that.” The zookeeper said, “Sir, the difference is that while the lion may look like your cat at home, there is a killer inside of him! You’d better be glad he’s in that cage or he would shred you apart.” (Wiersbe)
That is what hate is like! The person on the outside may look good and may seem right, but there is a murderer in his heart and he will rip you apart if given the right opportunity. The truth is that most people with hatred in their heart will never kill someone, but they will live in constant rage from the root of bitterness planted in their lives from the past and from circumstances often out of their control. Only the love of our Lord can break the bitterness in our hearts and shift our lives to one that loves like He does. If you are struggling with hate, confess it to the Lord today. Repent and walk with Jesus. He is faithful to forgive and to set you free, and if the Son sets you free, you are free indeed! (John 8:36) Love one another today!
We’re more than conquerors in Christ.
