Day 216 – August 5
What’s Love Got to Do with It?
“By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.”
1 John 3:10
It is amazing to consider that you and I are the evidence this world needs to realize Jesus is who He says He is and that He is the way to salvation. When we live outside of the freedom God intends for us, we live in opposition to the evidence of His gospel, thus making our story impossible for people to accept. The reason we must love one another is not to obtain God’s love. If we are in Christ we already have received His love. It is so the world may know who He is and what He has done for us and for them.
Whenever we decide to go rogue and love based on feelings, we take God’s promises, His word, and His hope and flush it for the sake of our selfish ambition. This is not only contrary to His word, but it’s devastating to the culture-change God desires for us to bring to the world. Change is a clear contrast to what is currently taking place and that is why God chose to make loving each other such a big part of His word.
Think about this: if a group of people ever truly decide to be selfless and love each other, people will take notice! The world will see Christ’s love in us and realize there is something different about those crazy Jesus followers. Many people will come to know Jesus as a result of our love for the people we do life with every day. We don’t have to be the smartest or best; we just have to love and honor people in all walks of life. Let’s do it!
We’re more than conquerors in Christ.
